“Our life is what our thoughts make it.” - Marcus Aurelius

In many of the posts on this blog, I offer advice or give methods of self-improvement.  This could easily give the impression that I have mastered all the ideas I write about.  I most certainly haven't. When I write advice, I'm giving it as much to myself as I am to anyone who might end up reading my words.

I have come to think of my blog mostly as my own version of Marcus Aurelius's Meditations.  A collection of advice and ideas that I should always be practicing and improving.  It's been amazing to me how much blogging on a regular basis helps me solidify and organize ideas in my own mind. Things I want to remember or practice become so much more real once I've typed them up.

An added benefit of writing more for myself than for my potential reader is the fear of pressing publish is reduced.

I'm the only reader I'm really writing for, as long as I like what I've written each day, I'm happy.
